Martha's Texas Cake

 

DON’T SIFT FLOUR and DON’T USE MIXMASTER.  Stir with wooden spoon… everything below.

Cake:

2 cups flour
 
2 cups sugar 
1 tsp. Baking soda
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 cup sour cream
3 eggs 
     Mix together 

Add boiling mixture to flour mixture. 
Mix until smooth.

 

Bake ( in greased cookie sheet with edge, or) rectangular Pyrex turkey roasting pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 35 min.

           

6 TBSP. Cocoa
2 sticks butter
1 cup water
Bring to a boil

 ICE AT ONCE! (while a little warm)

 (so start assembling now)

Icing:

1 box powdered icing sugar (10x, if possible)
1 tsp. Vanilla (imitation best)
1 cup walnuts
Add vanilla and nuts last,
after stirring boiled butter/chocolate mixture
(below) with 10x sugar


1 stick butter                                       
6 TBSP water
4 TBSP Cocoa

 

 bring to a boil

Add boiling mixture to sugar mixture.  Mix thoroughly.

ICE CAKE WHILE STILL WARM!  (a little warm, so icing will melt a bit)
